Why I removed WidgetBucks from my blogs

I recently found out about WidgetBucks on the great ProBlogger site here and thought I'd give it a try. I used one main ad and selected the "Digital Cameras" category. Being in Australia, I have never actually seen one of these ads on my blogs. A few days ago one of my readers sent the email below. I submitted a support request/complaint to WidgetBucks but have not heard back from them yet. I'm so upset about this because I specifically say on my digifree blog that I won't list blogs that have adult content. So I have removed all the references to WidgetBucks from both my blogs.

like you I added ads from widgetbucks, a good idea to make a little bit of money. But - as I soon discovered they display these ads (the pictures I added to this email from your blog (I was looking for your email) and from your Digifree-site) and I just wanted you to know what we here in sweden can see.
If that is okey with you it's fine, I just wasn't sure you knew...

I wrote to widgetbucks to ask if this is something they approve of but they haven't answered yet. I removed the ads from my blog I can add as I don't think it looks very good to have there...

Well, I just wanted to let you know as you might not see this in Australia.

DigiFree Gets 5000 Hits!

To celebrate the fact that on 29th January, DigiFree got over 5000 hits in one day, I've created a couple of freebies for you! First, I have a re-work of my first freebie, an all-boy tag:

Moo Two Designs Charity Kit

"Me Time"??

I have been so busy for the last 2 months that I've gone from having no grey hair at all to handfuls! I'm so NOT happy about it. I'm lecturing a course that required a complete re-write and it has consumed every spare moment I have had. So much so that I can't even remember what it feels like to have time to myself :-( The University calendar is now drawing to an end and I'm waiting anxiously to do some more scrapping! I have, however, had time to upload the rest of the Moulin Rouge kit to 4shared! So I'll release it in bits over the next week or so. I have lots of other goodies also waiting in the pipeline :-)

I just upgraded to Photoshop Elements 6. I'm SO excited! I can't wait to get started on Sarah's calendars for Christmas presents. Only problem is I have to change all the Winter pages to Summer ones and all the Spring ones to Autumn and vice versa. Down under the seasons are rather different! ;-)

Twelve Inch Doodles!

I have a whole bunch of doodles to go with my Moulin Rouge kit. I'm so into drawing these now! I'm very happy with how they have turned out. This is the first one which is just under 12 inches wide and comes in white, black & red, and a mixed version which is also textured. There are no shadows on the originals. I'll be adding more doodles over the next few days.

I've also shown part of the textured version in a larger preview at the bottom of the image. It's difficult to show the textured! Download the doodles by clicking on the preview image. I hope you like them!

Finally a freebie! Sorry for the lapse! I have a mix of papers which are based on the quote "The greatest thing you will ever learn is just to love and be loved in return" from Moulin Rouge. It's one of my favorite quotes from the film. These are based on a paper layout I did just over a year ago of my son:

Don't forget to check out my new automated digital scrapbooking freebie list blog. It is created by a computer ptogram that checks all the blogs of digifree sites to see if they have been updated since the last check. Faux Stamps?

Does anyone want some faux stamps? They look great on heritage pages, kids pages and on cards. I began making some heritage ones for my Moulin Rouge kit, e.g.:

But it just grew from there. For the kit I will be changing theses to French. Here are some more examples of what I've made (shown with black behind so you can see the tear holes which are in the real PNG files):

Anyone want them? I don't know what stamps look like in other countries so I could upload ones with & without the "Austalia" if anyone wants them. Then you can add your own country name. Of course I have no idea what that Japanese symbol is! I hope it's nothing bad!

I've made some mesh to go with my tartan kit. I love mesh - you can cut it to any shape and then show detail behind it. As usual, the colour theme is blue/red/green.

Tracking Comments on Blogger

I was finding it hard to keep track of my comments and yesterday I discovered a nifty tool for bloggers which isn't all that widely published. You create a "feed" on your blog and use the URL:
http://MYBLOGNAME.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default
replacing MYBLOGNAME with your blog name. You can select whether to include the name of the poster and the date. unfortunately you can only list up to 5 of the most recent comments but it's very handy!

Fonts and The Font Thing

Mindy posted a link to lots of free fonts on her blog which are really nice.

I use The Font Thing to organise my fonts. It is by Sue Fisher (a fellow Aussie!) and it's brilliant because you can categorise your fonts (into "Collections"). For example, I have "favorite", "script", "handwriting", "kids" (for the funkier/kiddy ones), "picture" (for picture fonts), "typed" etc. If you find it hard to keep track of your fonts it's a must-have. The other great aspect is that you can type your text in the top and see exactly what it will look like for all your fonts.

Sue has lots of info on TFT on her website including screen shots. She also has links to other font resources including font archives and other software. Very handy.

There is a tutorial for TFT at DSP but they don't go into using the collections which I think is the best part.

Be aware though that if you have hundreds of fonts it can take a loooong time to generate the text in all the variations. This is another good reason to use collections because you are only looking at a subset of your fonts at any one time.

Doctors & Green Tartan

Kirsty has an amazing story about seeing a specialist for her daughter here. We've very similar experiences with my daughter's ears in the UK. It was so difficult to get her to see anyone. Anyway, it reminded me of this news article my dad sent me a couple of days ago:

Very funny (in an odd kind of way since the event itself isn't funny at all).

I've just made a new title for my blog and I created a new black, white & red kit for it. I need suggestions for a name... once I have one I'll begin giving it away. I was wondering about moulin rouge? Anyone have any good ideas?

Templates!

I have just made a layout using a template for the very first time. Wow, how easy is that?! I used to ignore templates and just download kits etc. Now I'm going to hunt them down! LOL! Not only is it faster to do a layout, but I could never come up with the huge variety of laouts out there. Here is my first one using Ikea Godess' Circular Photo Template and my new Highland kit:

I have been working on a tartan kit because there are hardly any digital items available that are very Scottish. Since we spent 1.5 years in Scotland I really want to use a Scottish look & feel for some of the pages. The kit is called "Highland Dreaming" because now that we have left I often find myself day dreaming about the magical highlands of Scotland. The kit is almost done, and here is a preview of some of the items:
